Aster Care has linked closely with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service to carry out risk assessments with each of our service users, ensuring all preventative measures are considered and actioned to protect them in their homes.

HFRS has given some simple advice in terms of decluttering and keeping doorways and exits clear. In addition, they will flag properties at the local fire station where a vulnerable adult is living, sending a second crew to focus entirely on evacuating the service user/care worker in the event of a fire.

This information is then consolidated into a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) and placed into the service user's home to give clear guidance to staff/families on how to prevent fires and respond in this rare type of emergency.
